We woke up this morning to soft white snowflakes rushing past the window!!
It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like winter these days. Continuing to settle in and stretch my resilience. I’m having a hard time finding work, but trying to squeeze the good out of unemployment (and full time parenting). Speaking German on the phone to a receptionist (not perfectly, obviously, but we understood each other which is what counts...) and giving directions to tourists are no small things for me. If I had a parental resume, I would definitely add that I solo-parented in this foreign-to-us-country for eight days and there were no catastrophic disasters. Baruch HaShem.
Last night was the first night of Hanukkah and my heart ached with joy as I witnessed Rafi and our housemates playing together with his new construction trucks, while the candles burned low. There is a real harmony in our home, and my gratitude runneth over.
Our shipping container has been delayed… again. At this point I don’t remember most of what we packed, and I am quite satisfied with the minimalist situation I’ve got going. However, what is missing is quite missed. For example, our Hanukkah box with all our decor and dreidels and Hanukkiyot, and our winter clothes and jackets. We can get by for a while, but I will be very glad when my fleece lined pants arrive (it’s been between 0-4 degrees celsius!)...
