Recap: From Winter to Spring

Counting cherished memories from January to April...

We all got covid, but recovered very easily from it (Baruch HaShem)! We had an epic New Year's Eve (Sylvester) party- one of those rich and full nights you don't easily forget. We celebrated the Basel Carnival called 'Fasnacht' and welcomed beautiful and warm days of Spring (with only a few days of wind gusts, snow flurries, and rain). And we've settled into a schedule that is manageable, though changes are sure to come soon enough. Resilience is really a radical concept, isn't it?

We've had snow days, celebrated at least five birthdays, made new friends who feel like family, and traveled by night train to visit friends in Berlin. Dinosaur museum trip(s) and puzzle mania. Potty ready- no more diapers(!!!) Bicycle rides, painting parties, and singing group. New job! New love. A new season.

And of course, moments of missing our people back home. Grieving from a great distance the death of someone in my community in Oakland who is very dear to me. Moments of awkward miscommunication due to language differences. Moments of unsureness/fear regarding the future. Paying extra attention to the news of war and heartbreak around the world. Mundane grocery shopping and cleaning.

Holding it all (as we all are).

Love, love, all love!
